10 easy holiday decor ideas

The holiday season is upon us, and it’s time to deck the halls! Here are 10 easy holiday decor ideas to make your home feel extra festive.

  1. Use seasonal scents and play seasonal music

Have your favorite evergreen or peppermint-scent and classic holiday music float down the halls of your home for an extra cozy feel.

  1. Create a holiday table setting

When welcoming guests for dinner, style a festive table setting for them to enjoy! Spruce up your everyday table by adding ornaments, pinecones and fresh-cut evergreen to the centerpieces and settings. Add an old plaid scarf or blanket as a runner or tablecloth to take the display to the next level.

  1. Tie in the wall art

Incorporate your artwork in your holiday color scheme or switch out the current wall art for holiday pieces!

  1. Add wreaths

Add wreaths to your windows for a classic and sophisticated look or in a less expected spot, such as in front of a mirror, bookshelf or on a stair banister.

  1. Bring the outside in

Bringing the outdoors in is an easy way to add seasonal beauty to any room and fill the home with holiday scents. Seasonal foliage, such as evergreen, fresh pine, cedar, holly, poinsettia and pinecones, adds the perfect finishing touch to your holiday decor. Throw fresh-cut evergreen boughs and pinecones into a bowl or add them to your arrangements, table setting and mantle. Fill a basket with a bundle of cedar boughs or a small evergreen and place in an empty corner of your home.

  1. Add seasonal sprinkle throughout your home

Replace a few of your everyday accessories and bookshelf decor with holiday decor. Easily transform your bookshelf into a makeshift mantle by adding stocking holders and your favorite stockings.

  1. Add garland

Select fresh-cut garland or make your own beaded, popcorn, berry or citrus garland to place throughout your home. Drape garland above headboards, windows and mirrors and on top of cabinets, bookshelves and mantels.

  1. Deck the doorways

Add garland or lights to the main doorway in your home to welcome guests with cheer.

  1. Add extra holiday cheer

Don’t forget to decorate the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, staircase railing and, most importantly, the entryway! Add a small wreath, garland or mini tree to any of these spaces to spread holiday cheer throughout your home. Add a festive hand towel to the kitchen or bathroom to finish off the holiday look.

  1. Stick to a theme

No matter if you choose a traditional color scheme of red and green or opt for metallics, sticking to your color scheme will help the space look cohesive. Choosing a specific theme, such as cabin, vintage or minimalist, will help keep your decor on track.
