Why We Chose Briar Chapel - The Malishchak's

I originally met Monica and Jack Malishchak, a lively and fun couple, when they came into the Information Center. Although they were already residents, they wanted to take a peek at our large topographic map and get a feel for all the exciting changes happening in the community. After chatting with them for a bit, I knew that they would be perfect for my new blog series “Why I Choose Briar Chapel,” and Monica kindly agreed to an interview |

I know that you’re originally from Maryland – What was your reason for moving to NC? I was presented with a job opportunity through my employer. We are new empty nesters and thought it would be a great time to make the change |

During your search for the perfect home/community, what main things were you looking for? We wanted a first floor master bedroom, energy efficient ranch-style home with updated amenities, hard-wood floors, low maintenance and a location close to my new office, and ended up choosing a Homes by Dickerson home. |

What made you choose to call Briar Chapel home? We had a year to figure out where we wanted to live and we did demographic research to determine the areas we would like to pursue. We looked at existing homes in Pittsboro, Chapel Hill, etc., but nothing compared to the community at Briar Chapel. Our agents recommended the development and we fell in love with it immediately. The grounds are extremely well manicured and everyone is so warm and welcoming. We have three daughters, 18, 20 and 22, and we knew they would enjoy the community with the club house, pool, exercise room and hiking trails. It is perfect for their visits between college semesters and they love to bring friends home to Briar Chapel from school. |

Now that you’re settled in and living here, what’s your favorite thing about our community? The majority of the new owners are from other parts of the country and are as eager as we are to meet new people and make friends. Everyone we met has a story! We also love the lifestyle afforded in this area and often comment that we feel semi-retired (compared to the congestion and daily commute in Baltimore). |

If you could give one piece of advice to those considering calling Briar Chapel home, what would you tell them? It is a terrific location and our home is everything we had hoped for. Living in Briar Chapel is the best choice we could have made!
